Tenaja has nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit and philanthropic strategy, capacity building, organizational development, and program management as a consultant, volunteer grantmaker, and organizational leader. She most recently served as Research & Communications Director at CHANGE Philanthropy, with past experience at Foundation Center (now Candid) and several local NY nonprofits.

As a writer, Tenaja knows from personal experience the critical role that arts organizations play in helping communities tell their own stories and control their own narratives. She was moved to join AAC after facilitating a workshop on diversifying fundraising and volunteering to host an affinity space. Remarking on her relationship with the organization, Tenaja says “AAC is building community and sharing resources to support cultural workers at a critical time. I couldn’t be more excited to join AAC and leverage my skills toward securing the organization’s future.”

As a board member, Tenaja leverages her expertise and network toward strengthening funding alignment, organizational development strategy, and cross-sector partnerships. She serves on the development committee, supporting efforts to identify new opportunities, deepen funder relationships, and align resources with organizational priorities.
