Board Member
Daniel Guzman is the Director of Special Events for the City of Alexandria, where he oversees the City’s Signature events, including the ALX Jazz Fest, the Alexandria/USA City Birthday Celebration, and the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Previously, Daniel served as Curator of Public Programs at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, an arts incubator on the Potomac waterfront. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade in New York City producing culture crawls, pop-up events, workshops, and roundtables.
Daniel previously served as Co-Chair of the Arts Administrators of Color Network and as a board member for the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County. He has also served as a panelist for the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the Virginia Commission for the Arts. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science in Project Management from George Washington University.
Daniel joined AAC after attending the convening in 2019. “It felt like the first time I could breathe in a professional setting, sitting in spaces with other arts professionals like me. I felt like I had a home.”
As a board member, Daniel has served during periods of tremendous change and growth for AAC. He has served in the mentorship program and the regional chapters committee, and in the Executive team as Parliamentarian, and later, as Co-Chair on two separate occasions. In each role, he brought his experience in Project Management and lessons learned from years in city government and boards to help shape best practices for AAC. He hopes that his work can help provide support for future generations of arts professionals of the global majority.
